ECG Academy starts with basic scientific concepts of electricity and how ECG machines work. We discuss how to hook the patient up to a machine for optimal results. Students then learn the three-dimensional anatomy of the heart, cellular physiology, ECG basics and interval measurements
The Level 1 Course discusses how to analyze cardiac rhythm strips, including basic and advanced arrhythmias. We cover arrhythmias from a physiologic standpoint and delve into subtle concepts like distinguishing ventricular tachycardia from atrial arrhythmias with aberrant conduction.
Once students have completed Level 1, then can go on to Level 2, which covers all of the topics needed to read a 12-lead ECG. Topics include axis, atrial abnormalities, hypertrophy, bundle branch blocks, hemiblocks, ischemia and infarction. We even cover electrolyte abnormalities.
